Wildlife Update: July 11, 2023

The Grantsburg area is experiencing another dry summer. The area did get a couple inches of rain over the 4th of July weekend, but not much more than that. Water levels are low in many flowages due to the lack of precipitation. There have been a few wildfires recently, one of them on Crex property (on Main Dike Road, south of the Refuge).

Wildlife Update: June 2, 2023

Young animals are starting to become a common sight on the Glacial Lake Grantsburg properties right now. Bear cubs, fox kits, fawns, and goslings have all been spotted recently. Swan cygnets are likely not far behind. Please keep in mind that the best thing to do when encountering young animals is to give them their space. Help us keep wildlife wild!

Wildlife Update: May 23, 2023

If you are planning a trip to Crex Meadows, now is a great time to come! We have 173 different species on our recent bird sightings list, all sighted within the past week (within Crex Meadows, Fish Lake, Amsterdam Sloughs, and the surrounding area). We have also been having lovely spring weather here in the Grantsburg area. There have been many days with temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s, and only some in the 60’s. Road conditions are great in the wildlife areas. All roads that were a mess this spring have been repaired.
