SUMMARY:Earth Day Celebration: Property Clean-up & Planting for Pollinators
DESCRIPTION:RSVP by phone is required for all parts of this event. See below for details. \nJoin us on Saturday\, April 22 to celebrate Earth Day! \nWhat better way to celebrate and give back to the Earth than by picking up some trash and keeping Crex Meadows clean. Property clean-up will run from 8:00am- 12:00pm. Clean-up participants are not expected to stay for the entire 4 hours\, but are welcome to if they choose! You may arrive anytime in the clean-up window. \nAfter the clean-up\, join us for lunch in the Mess Hall from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Lunch will be provided free of charge for all clean-up participants. \nFollowing lunch\, we will be hosting a Planting for Pollinators activity from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. Plant a pot of annual flowers to encourage visits from various pollinators. Plants and materials provided by Wood River Garden Store. This event is limited to 15 participants with preference given to clean-up participants. Fee for this activity: $20. \nPlease call either Dicey (715-463-1220) or Lauren (715-463-2896) if you plan to attend any portion of the Earth Day Celebration. We will need to know if you have pick-up location preferences\, if you will attend lunch\, and if you plan to participate in Planting for Pollinators. See you on Earth Day!

Instructor\, Joe Bartylla\, has worked as a plant research technician for a major seed company\, hunted for over 40 years\, and has worked as a habitat improvement consultant. Bartylla will explain the principals to get you moving in the right direction to get predictable daytime buck activity.  \nTopics include: food plots and what to plant\, creating bedding areas\, establishing travel corridors\, the importance of browse\, invasive species control\, increasing buck activity where you want it\, and hunting deer without the deer knowing. \nSnow date will be Saturday\, March 25.

This is one of John Pennoyer’s favorite times to photograph! \nIn the classroom session\, John will cover techniques for getting the correct exposure with our landscape covered in snow\, photographing wildlife in their winter environment\, and even doing some macro/close-up photography of snow-covered subjects. Also covered will be how to protect your equipment in a snowy/wet environment and how to dress to keep yourself as comfortable as possible in a cold snowy environment! We will than venture outside to practice all of those skills learned in the classroom. \nEquipment: Bring your camera equipment and all lenses plus tripod.
