CONTEST RULES
1.
Who can enter
– This contest is for amateur nature photographers only, defined as
someone who is NOT making their livelihood by their nature photos.
2.
Categories
– there will be 6 main categories; Birds, Insects, Other Wildlife,
Flora (flowers, ferns, trees, etc), Landscapes, Silhouettes, and
a 7th category, Artistic.
There is no fee for the Artistic category.
3.
Submission Guidelines
–
a.
A maximum of one entry per person per
category.
b.
A fee of $2 per entry will be charged to
cover the cost of the awards and for displaying the photos.
Any extra money after the bills are paid will be donated to the
Friends of Crex Endowment Fund. Please include the fee with
your submissions.
To encourage participation, no fee will
be required to enter the Artistic category. c. The entrant must determine on their own which entries they want to submit and which category it fits under – please do not send multiple photos with directions for us to choose which to enter; we will return your submissions if they come this way.
d. The photograph must have been taken within or
directly adjacent to the Glacial Lakes Grantsburg managed properties
(Crex Meadows, Fish Lake, Amsterdam Sloughs and Danbury Wildlife
Areas).
e. Photos can have been taken in 2010 or before.
f. The person who took the photograph must be the
person whose name is on the entry.
g. Photos should be printed no larger than 8”X10” and in
the landscape format (wider than tall) so we can use them in the
2011 Crex calendar.
h. Photos should be submitted on photo paper, un-matted and un-framed. If you submit them in a frame or mat, we will remove the photo before displaying it.
i. A digital copy of the photo must be included
(either on disk or emailed to kimdauer@yahoo.com) that is at least
3M in size, for use in the 2011 Crex calendar.
j. Submissions should include, on a separate sheet
of paper; the photographer’s name, address and telephone number, the
category they want it entered in, the title of the photo, and where
it was taken.
k. The photographer of each submission grants Friends of Crex,
Inc. permission to use the images for advertising, sales items,
calendars, on www.crexmeadows.org, etc. Photos will not be
returned. FOC will always give photo credit to all published
photos.
l. Submissions should be mailed or brought to:
Friends of Crex, 102 East Crex Ave, Grantsburg, WI 54840.
m. The submission deadline is July 15, 2010.
4. Display
for Voting – FOC will display the submissions at the Crex Meadows
Wildlife Education and Visitor Center beginning July 31. All
efforts will be taken to display the photos in a fair, un-biased
manner.
5. Judging—
will be done by ballot beginning on July 31, 2010. Only one
vote per person will be allowed.
Voting will close at 12:00 p,m. (Noon)
on Saturday, August 7th.
6. Winning
Photos:
a. The top 2 photos in the first six categories will be
featured in the 2010 Crex Meadows calendar. The 1st place
winner in the Artistic category will be used as the cover art for
the calendar. The winning photographers will receive a copy of
the calendar, which will be printed in September 2010.
b. The
1st place photo in each category will be mounted onto an engraved
plaque which will be displayed at Crex Meadows until the 2010
